Culinary Prepares students for entry-level positions in the rapidly growing food services sector. Training involves a mix of classroom curriculum with hands-on experience, and job placement assistance. Participants learn about knife skills; food preparation; customer service; meal planning; food safety and sanitation; inventory management, and point-of-sale systems. At the end of the program students are prepared for the ServeSafe Manager’s exam, and are eligible to apply for employment with Community Work Services’ Culinary Team. Culinary NECAT provides a 14-week culinary skills training program to prepare Boston residents, including returning citizens, people experiencing homelessness, and individuals in substance abuse recovery, for careers in restaurant and hotel kitchens.
